Accessibility

This statement is issued by Samman Publishing House, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is effective from 16 August 2026. Review sits with SPH operations. It is a description of this website, not a certificate.

1. What we aim for

We aim to make the public site usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, and without motion. We design against WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a working target. We have not completed a third-party conformance audit, and we do not claim one.

2. What is in place

• A skip link to main content.
• Visible focus. We do not remove outlines from things you can tab to.
• Text that can be resized with the browser.
• Language of the page is declared, including when you switch between English and Nepali.
• If you prefer reduced motion, the house film does not play, cover drift stills, and assemble animations are off.
• Forms name their fields and say when something is required. A publishing application can be completed without an account.
• Legal and other managed pages use real headings, not styled paragraphs.

3. Known limits

• The house film on the homepage is a YouTube embed. When motion is not reduced it autoplays muted. You can pause it. We cannot make YouTube's player fully ours.
• Book covers and photographs are cropped in posters. Alternative text on a cover describes the cover as a cover; it is not a long description of the artwork.
• Some PDFs or Drive files linked from a book are documents we did not author. Their accessibility is the author's or the file owner's.
• Nepali editorial copy is published only when it has been written. A Nepali URL without a translation says so, rather than showing English as if it were Nepali.

4. Compatibility

We test in current Safari, Firefox and Chromium browsers, and with keyboard only. We use a mechanical check in development for missing labels, duplicate ids and outline removal. That check is not a substitute for a person using a screen reader.
