This policy is issued by Samman Publishing House, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is effective from 16 August 2026. Review sits with SPH operations. It is the house position for the public website, the catalogue, campaigns and the books we take on. A signed publishing agreement, where one exists, prevails for that book.

1. Human judgment

SPH is a publishing house, not a machine that emits books. Quotes, publishing decisions, payments, public claims and what appears on this site require a person. Tools may help research, coordination and operations. They do not write the author's work, they do not set a price, and they do not approve a payment or a publication.

2. What we will not invent

  • An ISBN, review, endorsement, award, sales figure, stock quantity or institutional claim.
  • A campaign total that is not the sum of verified evidence.
  • A name of a gift recipient without that person's consent. Being counted is not the same as being named.
  • English copy under a Nepali URL, or the other way around, as if it were translated.

When a fact is missing, we omit it. We would rather a thin page than a decorated one.

3. Evidence on the public site

Public numbers are evidence-backed. A campaign goal has no progress column of its own; progress is the sum of verified evidence. Reports freeze at generation. The catalogue is the source of titles, credits, covers and availability. Page copy may introduce a book; it may not restate an operational fact that lives on the book.

4. Whose name is on the work

Authors retain copyright in their work unless a signed agreement says otherwise. Contributors are credited in the roles they actually held. A translator is not filed as an author. We do not put SPH's name on a book as if SPH had written it.

5. What we take on

We take on books we believe we can produce and stand behind. Sending an application does not entitle anyone to publication. We may decline work that we cannot produce well, that we cannot defend, that we do not have the rights to, or that would require us to invent a public claim.

We will not publish material we reasonably believe is unlawful in Nepal, or that impersonates a living person in a way we cannot defend, or that presents someone else's work as the applicant's.

6. Manuscripts

Manuscripts and sample documents are Google Drive links the author controls. SPH does not store manuscript binaries on this platform. The record we keep is the project: versions, approvals, notes and the link we were given.

7. Corrections

If something on this site is wrong — a credit, a date, a figure, a claim — write to us through the Contact page. Catalogue corrections are made on the book. Campaign figures change only when the underlying evidence does.

Tell us about the book you want to bring into the world.
