Start a book with SPH

Tell us what you are writing, or what you need written, and what you want it to do. An editor reads every application and replies either way.

This is the front door. Manuscripts, outlines, academic titles and private projects all come through this application. It is how work enters the house, so it is not lost in a personal inbox.

SPH takes on few books only. When we do, we stay with the work: thinking, writing support, editing, design, ISBN, print, distribution and a public campaign. If that is what you want, say so plainly.

What to include

  • The one-sentence reason the book should exist.
  • Whether you have a manuscript, an outline, or an idea that still needs writing.
  • Language, and any university or institutional constraint that is real.
  • Whether you want to write it yourself or want it developed with us.

Questions the form cannot hold can go to sammanpublishinghouse@gmail.com. A manuscript sent only by email is not a submission.

What you are publishing

This decides which of our editors reads your application, so it is worth getting right.

Which of these fits best?
The book

A working title is enough. Nothing here is a commitment, and nothing has to be finished.

It can change later. Every book we publish started with a title that changed.

Memoir, poetry, business, history, children's, textbook.

An idea is a legitimate answer. You do not need a finished book to apply.

An estimate. Leave it blank if you genuinely do not know.

A paragraph is plenty.

What you want the book to do

The most useful part of the application. It tells us whether we are the right house for you.

Reach a particular reader, support your work, record something, sell copies, open doors. Be direct.

Timeline and support

Tell us what you already have covered and what you would want from us.

A month and year, or an event you are working towards.

What would you want from us?

Choose as many as apply. Nothing here is priced yet.

Optional, and it does not decide anything. It helps us quote something realistic rather than something you have to decline.

Your manuscript

We do not accept file uploads. Share a Google Drive link instead, so the document stays yours and you can withdraw access at any time.

Set it to 'anyone with the link can view'. You can revoke it whenever you like.

About you

So we know who we are reading, and how to reply.

Where we reply. We do not add you to a mailing list.

City and country. It affects printing and delivery, not whether we read your application.

Before you send

Three things we need you to confirm.

Review

Check what you are sending. You can go back and change anything.
